Sweet Potato Turkey Chili

Maple syrup and cinnamon are the secret ingredients in this chili. They balance out the spicy flavors of the chili powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper. The sweet and spicy balance makes this dish so cozy and delicious!

Ingredients used to make sweet potato chili 

  • Ground Turkey
  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Yellow Onion
  • Kidney Beans
  • White Kidney Beans
  • Crushed Tomatoes
  • Frozen Corn
  • Chili Powder
  • Paprika
  • Garlic Powder
  • Cayenne
  • Cumin
  • Cinnamon
  • Maple Syrup
  • Avocado Oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Cooking the chili

You only need one pot! The clean up is so easy!

Heat a large saucepan over medium heat, saute diced sweet potatoes and onions in avocado oil for 5-8 minutes or until sweet potatoes begin to soften.  Add in ground turkey. Cook until it is no longer pink. Next add in the spices: chili powder, paprika, garlic powder, cayenne, cumin, and cinnamon. Stir until well combined and then add crushed tomatoes and bring to a boil. Once boiling, mix in maple syrup and simmer for 20 minutes. Top with plain Greek yogurt, avocado, and chips.

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • cups diced sweet potatoes
  • 1 15oz can kidney beans
  • 1 15oz can white kidney beans
  • 1 20oz can crushed tomatoes
  • cups frozen corn
  • 3 tbsp chili powder
  • tbsp paprika
  • tbsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp cayenne
  • 1 tbsp cumin
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tbsp avocado oil

Instructions
