Ingredients needed to make grilled flank steak tacos

  • Flank steak: I love grilling flank steak. It is not only one of the cheapest cuts of steak but holds so much flavor from the marinade. It also cooks super fast so you need to be careful not to overcook it!
  • Marinade-
    • Olive oil- This will be the base of the marinade.
    • Lemon, orange, limes- You will need to juice and zest them. The zest really enhances the citrus flavor for the tacos.
    • Minced garlic- Add some flavor!
    • Chili powder and smoked paprika- My go-to Mexican meal spices.
    • Hot honey- If you have not tried hot honey yet… you need to! It is sweet and spicy and adds the perfect kick to these tacos. I even drizzled some on top and it was great! I got mine at Trader Joe’s.
    • Worcestershire sauce- Is also sweet and tangy and adds so much flavor to these tacos.
  • Other taco ingredients
    • Tortillas- Any kind of tortilla you like using!
    • Green and red peppers and red onion-  These veggies are great grilled!
    • Avocado- What is a taco without some sliced avocado?!
    • Cotija cheese- You can use any cheese you like or no cheese. The cotija cheese is a nice compliment to the sweetness and spiciness of the tacos.

How to makes these tacos

Begin by making the marinade. The longer you marinate the flank steak the better.  In a mixing bowl, add all of the marinade ingredients together and give it a good mix. Then pour the marinade into a gallon zip lock bag. Then add steak to the bag and make sure to press out all of the excess air. Then seal and shake the bag to make sure the marinade covers the entire piece of steak. Place in the refrigerator for at least an hour to overnight.

Grilling time! Preheat the grill to medium heat.  Slice peppers into strips and the onion into rounds. Spray with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Add veggies and steak to the grill. Grill veggies for 5 minutes per side and steak for 5-8 minutes per side depending on how you like your steak cooked.

Let the steak rest for 5 minutes then slice and assemble tacos.

Enjoy!
