You need to try these Apple Turkey Burgers this fall! These burgers are the furthest thing from dry. They are full of warm fall spices, herbs, sweet apples, and topped with caramelized onions and melted brie. Put them on your favorite bun or lettuce wrap.

While I was eating my Apple Turkey Meatballs with Spaghetti Squash, I kept thinking of how good these would be as turkey burgers. So, I used similar ingredients, added caramelized onions, sauteed mushrooms, and brie and they were amazing!

Ingredients needed

Here is what you will need to make these healthy and easy fall turkey burgers.

  • Ground Turkey
  • Apple (grated)
  • Pumpkin Puree
  • Garlic
  • Cinnamon
  • Rosemary
  • Thyme
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Brie- I used Trader Joe’s Brie with Wild Mushrooms.
  • Mushrooms
  • Yellow Onions
  • Butter
  • Olive Oil
  • Iceberg Lettuce

How to make these Turkey Burgers

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Put olive oil on a paper towel and using grilling tongs wipe it on the grill. Turkey is leaner than beef and will easily stick to the grill.

After that, in a mixing bowl, add ground turkey, grated apples, pumpkin puree, minced garlic, cinnamon, rosemary, thyme, salt, and pepper. Using your hands or a rubber spatula, mix everything together. Make sure all of the ingredients are evenly mixed. Slice the ground turkey mixture into fourths and form it into patties. Grill for 5 minutes, flip, and grill for another 5 minutes. After that, turn the grill down to low and add sliced brie. Cover and cook for two more minutes to melt the cheese.

While the burgers are cooking, prepare the caramelized onions. In a pan, heat 1 tbsp of olive oil and 1 tsp of butter. Add sliced onions and salt. Cover and cook over medium heat stirring frequently for 10- 15 minutes. 5 minutes in add the sliced mushrooms.

Prepare the lettuce bun. Peel the outer 1 or two leaves off of the iceberg lettuce. Trim the top 1/2 an inch off. Fold it in half to create a lettuce bun. Repeat to make the top of the bun.

Assemble your burgers and enjoy!
